Welcome to The Politics Project resources site!
We have a variety of resources all designed with one idea in mind - to support teachers and educators to discuss political and social issues with young people. We have tools for the classroom to support busy teachers to deliver creative and flexible lessons and a series of "brush-up toolkits" to help educators get up to speed on ever-changing political and social issues.
We know that teaching political and social issues can be difficult to navigate and is often squeezed into the gaps in school day. To help teachers out we have created Blocks, a series of 20 minute activities that fit into an assembly or form time. Alternatively, the Blocks can be linked up to make full lessons on the big issues of 2017.
Our Brush-up Toolkits are designed to support teachers to discuss social and political topics that are constantly changing. Each toolkit is made up of ten sources that range from videos and newspaper articles to more in-depth reports. We have given each source an "effort level", so you can just dip in for a five minute refresher or dive deeper into a particular issue. Many of the sources are great to share with students, so we have marked some of them "classroom appropriate", but we recommend you make the final decision on what is right for your classroom. Our toolkits have been put together in collaboration with The Democratic Society and give a variety of perspectives on each issue. Click on the topics below to get started.
